NEXT GROUP MEETS FEBRUARY 5, 2023
Parent Support Group
Parenting is one of life’s most rewarding experiences. It’s also hard work. Parents of autistic or other neurodivergent youth face additional challenges that requiring additional support.
Our Support Groups offer peer support in a warm and inclusive environment, facilitated by Kristen Math, one of our expert coaches.
“Parents are stressed, anxious, and scared. The lack of support adds insult to injury. IRL’s programs include parents in the process where they learn how to better support their children, while receiving peer support, empathy and enthusiasm from other parents of special needs children.
Our goal with these Parent Support Groups is to offer ongoing support for all parents of autistic and socially-struggling youth in general.”
—Mara McLoughlin, IRL Social Skills Founder & Lead Facilitator
KRISTEN MATH
“Coach Kris” has master degrees in both counseling and molecular science. She wrote her thesis on the neuropsychological assessment of autistic children. With 5 years of experience teaching social skills to children, adolescents, and young adults on the autism spectrum, Kris is particularly excited that parents and caregivers are involved in IRL programs. The mother of five children— including an autistic teen and an autistic adult—Kris is passionate about advocating on behalf of neurodivergent people of all ages.
